93 Brand Hooks 2.0 BJJ Gi with Free White Belt

$0.00 $99.99

This item is not currently available for purchase.
  • 425 GSM Pearl Weave jacket
  • 8 oz. cotton pants
  • New and improved collar (thicker and wider)
  • Full length knee reinforcements
  • Grey contrast stitching in selected areas
  • Durable cord drawstring with 4 loops
  • EVA foam collar
  • Soft cotton seam taping (skirt and cuffs)
  • Includes 93 Brand white belt

If you want to look at getting value for your dollar, you won't need to look much further than 93 Brand's new Hooks kimono. The fabrics, fit, and quality are all there, matching the reputation and standard that was quickly set by this East Coast fight company. The top is made from a 425 GSM High-Tech Pearl Weave with ample reinforcements and minimal yet tasteful patchwork. The Hooks' trousers are also quite simple, featuring only one patch (sewn at the left hip) and contrast stitching only at the cuff openings and vents/loops.

While the graphics and patches may be minimal, 93 Brand did not skimp on the Gi's construction itself. Some noteworthy specs include full-length knee reinforcements (coverage and protection regardless of how bizarre your scrambles may be), a cord drawstring, and four drawstring loops. Interior seams that are typically the most vulnerable and susceptible to fraying are all protected by a soft, solid white taping.

93 Brand's standard BJJ model delivers a surprising level of comfort and quality considering its impressive price point. Excellent for day-to-day training at any experience level.

5'9" and weigh between 170-175. A2 is a perfect fit after a few washes and cycles in the dryer. I own other more expensive gis but this one remains one of my favorites because of its clean design, quality materials and athletic cut.

From the size chart I would recommend A2H, A3 might be a bit long and a bit tight.

Dryer shrinkage is hard to predict, but I wouldn't recommend it. Extremely likely it will not shrink enough to fit. Restocking in 2-3 weeks

I'm wondering about sizing for this gi. I'm 5'9", 155-160lbs, so I'm at the top end of the A1/A1L sizing... But I have big thighs (25") and butt (41") and a small waist (28"). I don't want to end up splitting my pants if the A1 ends up too small :)

For the embroidery, could I get the Position/submission on it like it is on the Tau? or would that be too much? I like the toned down look but would like just a LITTLE more :D

The A2 is good for ya, you'll just need to shrink it down to fit. For future batches, the A0H is a solid cut for you.

Love the Gi, the pants shrink a lot though. The A3 is massive and long and the A2L is too short and tight on the pants. They same the same heights but they are not. They need to close up the size gap a little bit. The Kimono is great, the pants are great too, just problems with the sizing.

Just received this today and notice it's much larger than my A1 Mandrill. The difference is extreme. Will the A1 Hooks really shrink that much so it fits just as well?

I'm sort of concerned and am thinking about exchanging for the A1F or even A0. Any help would be appreciated!

Can't recommend based on the sizing chart. I'm 6' 4.5", 185 lbs, and the A3L jacket length is too long (maybe a few washes on high heat will fix this) and the A3L pants length is too short (big deal breaker, as I washed this once on medium and I'm at least 4" above the ankle. The search continues...

At 6'5", 200 pounds, the A3L Hooks 2.0 fits me just perfect! I actually had to shrink the top in the dryer before wearing it the first time, because the sleeves were a little too long. That is a first for me - with most brands I typically end up with a combination of short sleeves, a gi that would fit a gorilla around the chest, or both. The A3L from 93 Brand, by contrast, feels like it is tailored to my dimensions. The pants fit great as well and do not look like capri shorts on me. They actually come down to the ankles. I've been training in this gi for several months now and I have not noticed any signs of wear. It feels very durable, but it is also very comfy and light, and much softer than any other gi I have owned, even though I hang dry it. In summary, thank you 93 Brand for your A3L size, it's a life saver for me!!!!! (Lexington, KY)

A2H should work for you, as the alternative would be an A4 and that is would be a bit long for you. If the A2H is too snug for your taste, you can always return (even if you train in it and wash it) within 60 days :)

Much like the other reviews, I think this is a great gi for the price. Comfy, durable, not too flashy, and gets the job done. When you combine that with the selection of sizes, awesome customer service at Rollmore.com, and 60 days to check the fit...how can you go wrong?

At 5'11", 177lbs (33" pant waist, 32" pant inseam, 34" dress shirt sleeve), the A2 just fit. I have no wiggle room for shrinkage = wash cold/cold and hang dry. For my size, it may be a tad short for some. However, I think it's long enough (barely) to meet legal requirements for competition. Having said that, it "grows" with some rolling and sweat (jacket more so than the pant).

If you're looking for "bang for your buck", I would pick one of these up!

I was thinking A2L but I'm 20lbs away the lower weight threshold. But I also think that the A1L will shrink too much and the A2 is even farther away from my weight.

If he wants to rock any other 93 Brand Gi such as the Tau, Goose, 100kg, or Charlie, then I would say go for A3L.

Ive been training in the Hooks gi for a few months. Happy with the overall quality and fit. Great service from Rollmore.com... I'm 5' 11" , 150 lbs, I bought an A2 which was big out of the box but i like to dry it in the Dryer so it ended up fitting perfect for me, shrinking about 2 inches on each sleeve.
Still kinda roomy on waist & hips but Im thin & i like that fit. Pants are comfortable too w/o feeling heavy. The sleeves do tend to stretch a lot when the gi gets sweaty/wet... though thats probably inherent with lightweight jackets. Overall a similar design as the DoD Hyperlyte.
One Question- Did the weave on this gi used to be 350gsm? Its listed at 425 now, it feels lighter than that. Has it changed since i bought it a few months ago?

Hi Aaron,

The weight has not changed and has always been 425 GSM pearl. Though the type of pearl weave pattern used gives it a more breathable/lighter feel than comparable GSM weaves.

Thanks!

I'm 6'1.5", 170 pounds, with long arms. I bought an A2L after consulting with the guys at Rollmore. Just like they said, the gi would come in a bit large on me, but shrink up after washing/hanging dry just enough to fit perfectly. I've never had such precise advice from a gi company. They were spot on. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite gis. It fits perfectly in every sense of the word. The arms are long enough, the jacket is just right, and the collar is pretty great.

Certainly, it's not perfect. There were a few (very few, actually) areas where stitching did seem wonky, but that's apparent even in the highest echelon of gis and gi companies nowadays. And honestly, it's not a big deal to me anyway.

But I paid 100 dollars for a lightweight, very well-fitting, seemingly durable gi. The price, the range of sizes, and the sheer quality and construction of this gi is superb. I HIGHLY recommend this gi to anyone in the market for a new one.

I can't wait for their new releases. This is a company to look out for.

Mine didn't shrink a whole lot but it definitely did get a bit tighter. Washed in hot and dried in hot just to see what would happen. I actually went with a size smaller than what I should have since the reviews I read about the Goose Grey said it ran a bit long. Hooks did run a bit long as well which made it perfect for me after the wash.

Andrew - The Tau will shrink more than the Goose (which is relatively shrink-proof).

Some things to note about BJJ weaves: Gold Weave fabric is more susceptible to shrinkage than Pearl or other weaves. Especially softer Gold Weaves and especially white ones (all white Gis shrink more than their colored counterparts).

The Hooks will shrink a little bit, not extraordinary but definitely more shrinkage compared to the Goose which is about as close to unshrinkable at it gets :)
If washed cold and hang dried, shrinkage will be average.
