If you prefer a clean cut and modest Gi, take a look the 2015 Nova. In terms of value and bang for your buck, it doesn't get much better than this!
One of Tatami's most popular models has gotten a slight facelight, including updated woven shoulder patches and new pants. The new shoulder graphics use a simple rendition of Tatami's newest logos and, along with the color-matched stitching, maintain the Nova's long-standing clean cut and modest appearance.
The 2015 model is constructed from the same reliable 425 GSM High Tech jacket and new 10 oz. twill cotton pants, with added drawstring loops and a round stretch drawstring. The new Nova is equipped with a strong rubberized collar, triple-stitched stress points, and double-layer knee reinforcement. The rubberized collar dries faster than traditional foam-filled collars, thereby preventing the buildup of bacteria and moisture. This rubberized style of collar also helps keep the jacket's original shape.
White Belt included free.
I'm 185-190 5'9 with long limbs and broader than normal shoulders. I ordered the A2L and had it embroidered. I was a little concerned at first because it was super tight in the shoulders right out of the package. I couldn't return it due to the embroidery so I decided to just wear it anyway. Glad I did, it was just really stiff but after an hour on the mat it broke in and now fits fine. My other GI (Breakpoint) is an A2 and after shrinking it's really short in the arms and legs so the A2L fits perfect. Really happy with the embroidery work. Only complaints, wish the pants had a couple extra drawstring loops like my Breakpoint and when I ordered the embroidery it didn't state where on the GI it would be. I took a chance and was happy with the placement on the lower left waist.
I'm 5'4, 105lbs (33-25-33) and got this in an F2. The pants are a little big, but will shrink down. The jacket is fitted but not skintight and the sleeves are a good length. The gi is ~0.7lbs lighter than my Fenom goldweave gi, and I actually prefer rolling in it. I'm kinda surprised the F* sizes aren't listed in the women's BJJ gis section, because I think it would be a really solid gi for women starting out in BJJ.
Do you see any A2 shipment coming in in the near future?
It looks like we have some A2s ready to go right now.
The sizing chart recommended an A6,do you have this size ?
We do not at this time. However this is a popular model for us so hopefully we can work with Tatami in the future and get some A6s.
I'm a 5'7" female around 185 pounds and trying to get down around 160. The Tatami size calculator won't make a recommendation for my size and weight for the Nova but recommends the A2 in the Estilo, would an A2 be appropriate for the Nova too?
Hi Lee. I do believe that the size A2 would be your best bet in this Nova gi as well.
probably a stupid question that's been answered already but does this come with patches??
All the patches you see are on there.
Did I read correctly that the jacket on the nova is lighter than the jacket on the zero g V2? If so, is this the lightest gi tatami makes?
According to Tatami stats, the Nova jacket is "425gsm single piece unique High Tech Weave Jacket", and the zero g v2 is "Jacket made from 475gsm Pearl Weave reinforced GI material".
As such, the nova is technically lighter.
does this come the tatami patchs already on it or is it patch-less? jw
This gi comes patch-less with optional patches for you to sew on at your discretion.
Fantastic product. The drawstring is more than long enough. Inexpensive gi's usually have short drawstrings, but Martial Arts Supplies is the exception.
I am 185lbs an a little over 5'10(178cms). Can you reccomend the correct size?
The reason I ask, is as per the sizing tool, if I enter my height as 5'10 it spits out A2 and 5'11 its A3
Yea it looks like you are on the border and could use both. However I would have to recommend the A3 to you.
Hey there... I'm 5'4" and I weigh approx 196lbs. I usually order A3 gis and then have the pant legs and sleeves hemmed down for me. If I go by most sizing guides, A2 should be fine, but sometimes the shrink causes the shoulder areas to end up too tight. What size would you suggest for this gi?
I think your assessment is accurate - a size A2 would work well. However, as you mentioned, wash shrinkage may make it a little tight. If you go A2, I recommend cold washing and hang drying.
This this Gi 's size run like the Fuji? I have a Fuji and I wear A5. Should I order A5 as well for this Gi?
Hey Sjaime. We've secured a very specific sizing chart for tatami products. Click on the blue ruler above right underneath where you would select your size. I think this is your best method for determining your size.
This is a great looking gi. The blue is so vibrant and it fits perfectly. It is very light compared to my Break Point Deluxe and my HSU kimono. You cant beat the quality and the breathability of this gi especially for the price. I would recommend this gi to anyone. My only regret is not buying this gi sooner and i cant wait to get the nova in white next.
BTW i am 5'8" 180lbs and i ordered an A2 - D SHIZZ
