The 4.0 is easily the best Estilo yet. Tatami's updated the graphics and really put together a quality kimono, converting pretty much every patch to applique embroideries which are much better quality. They are sewn through the fabric, so there isn't a single-seam edge like sewn patches, meaning it's virtually impossible for them to come off even after years of use. These embroideries are now used for the updated orange logos on the right shoulder, left lapel, right hip, and right shin "e" logo.
Unique taping is used in the usual Estilo places: sleeve cuffs and pant cuffs... But they're now using taping along the jacket's triple-stitched yoke seam, something you don't see on any Gis. Another nice touch is the taping on the exterior jacket's skirt, which used to be on the inside. All other high-stress seams are triple-stitched using a silver contrast stitching.
Tatami Zen Gorilla Rash Guard
5'10" and about 160 lbs. A2 is a good fit. The jacket was a little large at first, but a quick trip (10-20 mins) in the dryer got the jacket to a nice tailored fit. I would recommend this gi to lankier folks; it might be a bit too tailored if you are stocky for your height.
The collar is much stiffer than my older Tatami Nova, which is a good thing. It's much tougher for my opponents to manipulate. The pants are comfortable and seem rugged.
My only complaint is that some of the stitching is a little sloppy -- for example, in the crotch gusset. Overall, though, the contrast stitching looks sharp.
Hello, I'm 5'6" or 5'7" on a good day weighing between 195-210 lbs depending on tournament time. Would you guys recommend an A-2XL or A-3S? What's the main difference between those two sizes? I forgot to mention I'm built like an English Bulldog broad shoulders and short legs. Thanks for the help.
The A2XL is like a longer version of the A2L, while the A3S is more in line with what you'd need. If you're around 200 lbs and 5'6-5'7" then A3S is my recommendation.
I'm at the upper limit for an A2 (5'8", 185lbs). However, I'm a weightlifter and my shoulders/arms are much larger than average and wonder if I should order an A3S? Can I order an A3S top and A2 bottom?
Mix and match is not available for this Gi, so A3s top A2 bottom is not an option. However an A3S may work for you, as long as you like the fit of the pants. It's difficult to say without trying it on, but you can give either an A2 or A3S a try and if you don't like the fit, it can be exchanged for free (returns are prepaid both ways).
No A4S option?
6'-0' 155 lbs. ordered A2L... fits PERFECT. Finding gi's that fit my frame is difficult. This is the best fitting A2L by far.
I'm 6'0" and 145 lbs. Do you think an A2L will fit me? I'm worried it will be super baggy.
